 This year’s Homecoming celebration will have a special place in history for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The inauguration of the sixth president of UL Lafayette – Dr. Joseph Savoie – will also take place. Below is a listing for both ‘We Are Louisiana’ Homecoming 2008 and the Presidential Inauguration activities. Saturday, Oct. 25 • 7:30 a.m. - UL Lafayette Triathlon – Student Aquatic Center Sunday, Oct. 26 • 11 a.m. - Homecoming Mass – Our Lady of Wisdom • 1 p.m. - Court Reception – Alumni Center (invitation only) • 5 - 6 p.m. - Spirit display set up – Library Monday, Oct. 27 • 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. - Spirit Spot – Buffalo Wild Wings (Order Ragin' Cajun Lunch special to receive free game tickets) • 11:45 a.m. - Cake Giveaway and Spirit Banner Signing – Student Union Porch • 2 p.m. - Residence Hall Banner Judging • 2 - 4 p.m. - Faculty Door Decorating Contest • 5 - 7 p.m. - Kick-Off Party – Alumni Center (Sponsored by Alumni) • 7 p.m. - Cajun Karaoke – Student Union Ballroom Tuesday, Oct. 28 • 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. - Spirit Spot – Pete's (Order Ragin' Cajun Lunch special to receive free game tickets) • 5 p.m. - Carnival in the Quad • 8 p.m. - Drive-in Movie – Cajun Field Wednesday, Oct. 29 • 9 a.m. - Paint the Town Red – Participating businesses • 7 p.m. - Yell Like Hell – Blackham Coliseum • 7 p.m. - Homecoming “Inauguration Concert” – Angelle Auditorium featuring the University Wind Ensemble (free admission) Thursday, Oct. 30 • 9 a.m. - Ecumenical Prayer Service – Martin Hall • 10 a.m.- noon - Cajuns Can Care – Alumni Center • 2 p.m. - Presidential Investiture Ceremony – Cajundome • 6 p.m. - ‘We Are Louisiana’ Celebration – Cajundome Convention Center • 7 p.m. - NPHC Step Show – Student Union Ballroom Friday, Oct. 31 (Wear Red) • 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Tennis Tournament: – Bourgeois Hall Tennis Courts • 8:15 a.m. - Paint the Town Red – Participating Schools • Noon - 2 p.m. - Homecoming Displays at Cajun Field • Noon - 5 p.m. - Golf Tournament – Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course Saturday, Nov. 1 • 8 a.m. - Ragin' Road Race – Alumni Center • 9:30 a.m. - Open House – Alumni Center • 9:30 a.m. - Red Jackets Reunion – Alumni Center • 10 a.m. - Homecoming Parade – Cajun Field (viewing at Alumni Center) • 1-3 p.m. - Tailgating – Cajun Field • 1:30 p.m. - Tailgating Cook-off – Cajun Field • 4 p.m. - Ragin' Cajuns vs Florida International – Cajun Field • 8 p.m. - Christiana Smith “Sweet Sounds of Sharing” – Alumni Center -30- |
