DISCOVERY SERIES FEATURING UL LAFAYETTE PROF, STUDENTS TO BE SHOWN AT LITE

 

EVENT: Engineering the Impossible screening

DATE: Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010

TIME: 6:30 p.m.

LOCATION: LITE, 537 Cajundome Blvd.

INFORMATION: Dr. Chris Carroll, assistant professor of civil engineering at UL Lafayette, recently challenged a team of his students: Could they raise a 5,300 pound block of stone the way the ancient Romans did? The secret is a human-size hamster wheel that’s attached to a giant wooden construction crane. The project is part of a series for the Discovery Channel called Engineering the Impossible. A preview of the series will be shown Thursday at LITE. Carroll and his students will be in attendance.
