Julie Roy and Xing Yang are the recipients of the 2009-2010 Rhodes Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. This award, established in 1996 and named in honor of benefactor W. R. Rhodes, is given annually to two mathematics graduate teaching assistants. According to department head Roger Waggoner, "Both of the recipients are very popular with their students. However, this is more than a popularity contest. Julie and Xing are very professional in the classroom and they do an excellent job of preparing their students for subsequent courses."
